City to increase ʻlevel of law enforcementʻ at Haʻiku Stairs

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Trespassing continues at Haʻikū Stairs, according to the City & County of Honolulu despite the deconstruction of the popular hiking spot.

City officials are set to announce additional safety measures, including increasing the “level of law enforcement” at the site to protect construction crews and the public safety.

“It has become increasingly clear that dozens of hikers have ignored the partial closure, which has resulted in dozens of citations being issued by officers from the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), and the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE).
