Bloomfield triple jumper finishes fifth in the Olympic Trials

Sean Dixon-Bodie, a University of Florida All-American from Bloomfield, jumped his personal best in the finals of U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials triple jump Sunday night and finished fifth overall with a jump of 55 feet, 1 ½ inches.

In order to make the U.S. Olympic team, Dixon-Bodie would have had to finish in the top three and reach the Olympic standard of 56-6. Salif Mane, who jumped a personal best 57 feet, 5 ¾ inches, won the event.

Dixon-Bodie, 22, was competing in his second Olympic Trials . He fouled on his first jump Sunday but his third jump of 54-8 ¾ (which equaled his previous best) boosted him into the top eight and the chance to continue with three more jumps. His last jump was his best…
