Upstate Men’s Soccer falls short on the road against UNC Greensboro

Greensboro, N.C. – The Upstate men’s soccer team was on the road for the first matchup of the 2024 season, facing UNC Greensboro. Despite multiple shot attempts for the Spartans, the match ended in a 3-0 win in favor of UNCG.

Anthony Cox was the first Spartan to record a shot for the 2024 season, taking aim at the goal just two minutes into the match. Luke Halkett followed with two shots of his own, finishing the game with a total of three. Upstate held UNCG scoreless until the 31st minute of the game. Fabian Dietrich and Dzenan Cerimagic were the only other Spartans to record a shot on goal.  Adrian Panaite and Petr Loznev each tallied one shot. The Spartans kept the match close heading into halftime, and would not allow UNCG to score again until the 73rd minute. Cooper Jennings started in goal for Upstate, making four saves on the night.

Four Spartans played all 90 minutes of the match, including defenders Elijah Jackson and Ollie West along with Jennings. Peyton Pressley also played the entirety of the match…
