Man convicted on 3 Oakland murders dating back to 2009

( KRON ) — A man was convicted of three murders and two more attempted murders that happened between 2009 and 2011, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

Joseph Carroll, who the DA’s office said is 31, was found guilty of murdering Nguyen Ngo in 2009, Nehemiah Lewis in 2010 and Andrew Henderson in 2011. DA Price’s office described the trail as “lengthy and hotly contested.”

Carroll was convicted of the following shootings:

  • Murdering Nguyen Ngo and shooting Bao Ngo on April 23, 2009. The drive-by shooting happened on 45th Street, KRON4 previously reported .
  • Attempted murder of Deandre Ware on May 3, 2010.
  • Killing Nehemiah Lewis as he was exiting his car on June 11, 2010. The shooting happened on Athens Avenue.
  • Murdering Andrew Henderson in a drive-by shooting on E Street on April 13, 2011.

Carroll was found not guilty of the attempted murder of Aaron Shaw.

In total, Carroll was found guilty of the following charges:

  • First-degree murder (two counts)
  • Second-degree murder
  • Attempted murder (two counts)
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon (three counts)
  • Assault with a firearm
  • Shooting at an occupied vehicle
  • Six gun enhancements

“This hard-fought case meant so much to the victims, their families, and our community,” Price said. “The level and scope of violence described in this trial was outrageous and totally unacceptable in our county.”…
