District 13-2A D-I preview: Marlin, Crawford, Riesel, Rosebud-Lott, Moody, Bruceville-Eddy

A couple fewer teams won’t make a difference in the level of competition in 13-2A. Nor will the fact that half of the district is under the direction of several new head coaches, a couple of which were hired from within.

“Marlin, they’ll always be good,” said Crawford head coach Greg Jacobs. “They’re athletic. The team to beat, I think, in district. Riesel was a playoff team deep last year. They’re the ones that knocked us out late in the season last year. I think they’re a big, physical team and I think they’ll be as good or better this year. Then of course, Rosebud-Lott, they lost a few but I think they’ve got some really athletic kids coming up that they’re really looking forward to using. … I think the stability of the district is pretty equal for the most part, so it will be a challenge for us.”

The reigning district champion Marlin Bulldogs have their hearts set on going back-to-back, but Crawford and Riesel are looking to spoil their chances. Meanwhile, after just missing the playoffs last year, Rosebud-Lott is set to take strides forward. Moody and Bruceville-Eddy will fight to throw their hats in the mix under new coaching staffs…
