Crash closes section of I-476 for 16 miles

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A section of I-476 was closed for around 16 miles due to a crash Wednesday morning.

Crews tell 28/22 News a crash occurred on I-476 Southbound shutting down the roadway from mile marker 117 Clarks Summit to Wyoming Valley, which is around 16 miles.

Officials said around 3:00 a.m. a dump truck carrying 23 tons of milling, which is a recycled asphalt pavement, hit the railroad bridge on the turnpike.

The dump truck then traveled about 600 feet down the road, damaging a sign on the railroad bridge, parts of the road, and six barriers…
