Marietta Woman Accused of Assaulting Police Officer

Rita E. Baylor, 55, of Marietta, is accused of assaulting a Marietta police officer on Aug. 21 at 8:40 a.m. at a condominium at 503 Augusta Drive in Marietta, according to an arrest warrant by the Marietta Police Department.

Two police officers responded to the address in response to Baylor having an active warrant. While attempting to detain Baylor, she became non-compliant then suddenly and aggressively grabbed a female officer by the neck. During the confrontation, the officer attempted to stop Baylor from choking her by grabbing Baylor’s wrist. The officer suffered several scratches to her face and neck, according to the warrant.

Baylor is charged with aggravated assault public safety officer. She was arrested on Aug. 21 at 9:30 a.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
