A Newark man is charged with a series of attempted robberies.

Delaware State Police said 27-year-old Christopher Trexler is charged with stealing items from Best Buy on Concord Pike Monday morning and battling with store employees who tried to stop him, saying he was armed with a knife. It started when the suspect was asking about certain products when he went behind a counter and pinned an employee against a shelf and tried to run out with the stolen items. Other employees attempted to intervene but the suspect fled. According to troopers, surveillance footage led to Trexler’s identity, and police were familiar with him from previous investigations.

Trexler is also accused of struggling with an employee at Game Stop on Kirkwood Highway Monday afternoon after presenting a demand note. A store employee fought with Trexler and chased him out of the store. The employee suffered minor injuries but declined treatment at the scene. Trexler is also charged with swiping a video game console from Best Buy at Fashion Center Boulevard at Christiana Mall one hour later. Trexler was arrested at another business in the shopping center. Also, State Police said warrants were out for Trexler’s arrest for thefts that occurred last weekend…
