ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) — First responders were on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash and fire near the Chain of Rocks Bridge on westbound I-270 Tuesday evening.
Traffic cameras showed black smoke in the area of the crash on the Illinois side of the river. Traffic was shut down in both directions for several hours. Eastbound traffic re-opened around 9:00 p.m. but the westbound lanes are still closed.
Several agencies responded to the incident, including Illinois State Police. An ISP spokesperson told First Alert 4 a semi-truck caught fire. Another semi-truck stopped behind the first one caught fire as well…
