At least 7 charged with gun possession during Chicago’s Mexican Independence Day weekend; 5 are from the suburbs

Chicago police arrested at least 18 people during Mexican Independence Day festivities last weekend, according to court records, with seven of those arrests involving felony gun possession allegations. Five of the people facing gun charges are from the suburbs.

CPD did not know the number of arrests its officers made during the various festivities, which were spread across many areas of the city from Friday evening through Monday night.
