Venice South Jetty closes for Hurricane Debby repairs

VENICE, Fla. (WWSB) – Venice Public Works crews closed off the South Jetty in preparation for repair work from damages left by Hurricane Debby.

Venice Public Works Director Ricky Simpson said the work will focus on placing large rocks tossed by the storm, back in their place, along with repairing and replacing asphalt destroyed during the storm surge.

“We have crews replacing the rocks that essentially rolled during Debby, so what we’re trying to do is to make the area safer and try to eliminate any type of fall or trip hazard,” Simpson said…
