Beaumont — The Jefferson County grand jury has cleared two Beaumont police officers of any criminal wrongdoing after shooting and killing a man they say charged at them with a chainsaw.
42-year-old Manuel Arteaga was killed late last month after a disturbance on Harriot Street in the Avenues area of Beaumont.
The grand jury reviewed the evidence, and Cory Kneeland, Chief of the Intake Section who handles grand jury cases for the D.A.’s Office, tells KFDM the grand jury deemed the shooting justified and ‘no billed’ the officers who opened fire.
