Nearly 40% of Nevada’s medical doctors have out-of-state addresses

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — 8 News Now recently reported that the number of medical doctors’ licenses in Nevada has rapidly increased compared to last year. Nearly 40% of those doctors are living out of state.

As of July, there were 16,760 MDs in Nevada. Over 6,500 of those call a place outside the Silver State their home. Edward Cousineau, The Executive Director of Nevada’s Medical Examiners Board, said most of that number is due to an agreement between certain states called the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact.

“It’s approximately a 30-state compact, which basically greatly expedites the licensing process for medical doctors who choose to use the compact,” Cousineau said…
