Columbia Mayor’s Walk Against Domestic Violence taking place soon

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The city of Columbia is inviting everyone to come together for the annual “Mayor’s Walk against Domestic Violence.”

The event on October 5th at Page Ellington Park will bring together domestic violence survivors and families who have lost loved ones to intimate partner violence. Mayor Daniel Rickenmann stopped by WLTX to speak to News 19’s Andrea Mock about the event saying, “This is a cause everyone in our state should get behind. If we don’t draw attention to the violence or support victims, we can’t see a change.”

He went on to say Columbia has several places women can go to get help including Sistercare and the South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (SCCADVASA). He said, “We want to let women know they don’t have to stay. They have options.”…
