Knoxville Raceway’s Sprint Car Capital of the World hosts this weekend’s 20th annual Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, starting with 25-lap, $7,000-to-win preliminary features on Thursday and Friday.
Exactly 40 drivers are signed into Thursday’s program at the famed half-mile as of 6:00 CT. Series championship points are not awarded Thursday and Friday, but only Saturday’s 75-lap, $50,000-to-win feature. Event points, however, from Thursday and Friday set the main event and consolation lineups for Saturday.
Lucas Oil Series points leader Ricky Thornton Jr. swept last year’s Knoxville Late Model Nationals. Thornton, Jonathan Davenport and Devin Moran are locked into the Lucas Oil Series top-four playoff race while Hudson O’Neal and Tim McCreadie battle it out for the fourth and final spot with 15 points separating them both…
