Sheriff’s office: Inmate attacked deputy at Marion County Adult Detention Center

INDIANAPOLIS – An inmate who attacked a deputy at the Marion County Adult Detention Center could face charges in connection with the incident.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, two deputies were conducting an inmate count around 3 p.m. Thursday when one of the inmates—identified as Jamond Harris—didn’t comply when deputies told inmates to return to their cells.

That led to a “verbal altercation,” the sheriff’s office said, and a deputy deployed her department-issued pepper spray. Harris escalated the situation and punched the deputy. He eventually knocked her to the ground and continued to attack her until other deputies responded…
