Friday afternoon Floyd County Emergency Management reported a wreck involving a dump truck and a power pole at the intersection of Highway 53 and Shannon Road NE.
The incident caused the power pole to snap, bringing down power lines across the roadway and forcing a complete closure of all lanes on Hwy. 53 in the area.
A small grass fire was also ignited after the power pole snapped. Outbound traffic from Rome was detoured onto West Hermitage Road, while inbound drivers were forced to make a U-turn back onto Hwy. 53 near Shannon Road…
