Man on probation arrested after Sacramento deputies say he drove over school sidewalk to flee

A former Valley High student on probation spotted by authorities in the south Sacramento school’s parking lot fled deputies Friday before he was arrested on a host of felony charges .

The 18-year-old was parked in a parking lot at the campus, 6300 Erhardt Ave., during its morning arrivals, when he was spotted by a sheriff’s school resource officers, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said. The deputies knew the man was no longer a Valley student.

Deputies say the man, later identified as Angel Ortiz, sped from the crowded campus, driving over sidewalks and heading into heavy morning traffic…
