St. Mary’s (Stockton, Calif.) put the spotlight on that theory Friday night against No. 21 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) when a pass from the 20-yard line turned into a referee-screened scamper toward the end zone, a broken tackle, and a fumble that was recovered just before the ball scooted out the back of the end zone—and a lead change in the third quarter, which could have very well ended the Spartans’ Super 25 run almost as quickly as it started.
