UR absorbs early slap at Delaware State, snaps back to win 38-24

Absorbing a slap started Saturday night for the University of Richmond, which trailed 10-0 at Delaware State. As a UR offense with injury issues developed and Richmond tacklers enveloped, the Spiders slapped back, winning 38-24.

The Spiders’ leading passer and rusher, redshirt junior Kyle Wickersham, did not play because of an ankle sprain. UR’s leading receiver, Nick DeGennaro, did not play because of a concussion. Left guard Keith Gouveia was out because of a season-ending injury. Tailback Aziz Foster-Powell missed his second straight game because of a violation of team rules.
