Men’s Soccer Draws on The Road in Conference Opener

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team hit the road as they began Sunshine State Conference play tonight at Saint Leo. The two sides finished in a 2-2 as each side earned a point and PBA’s record moves to 1-1-2 on the season.

It didn’t take long for the goal-scoring chances to start tonight as the Lions started the scoring with their opening attack of the match. Just over a minute into the game, the Lion’s first shot beat Omar Einarson to give the home side the lead. Fortunately, the Sailfish didn’t linger on the setback for long as they tied the game up with their first attack and shot of the game also. A ball over the top of the Lions backline found Harry Gardner. Gardner was patient as he dribbled along the end line before cutting a ball back to forward Tin Vastic in the middle of the box. Vastic took a touch and put his shot past the Saint Leo keeper for his first goal of the season.

After a chaotic start, the two sides settled into the game until SLU retook the lead in the 30th minute. A Sailfish defender got caught out, stepping up as the Lions played around the Sailfish defense to score their second goal of the night. PBA outshot SLU 6-5 in the first half and had five corners to zero from the Lions but trailed 2-1 at the halftime break…
