Mountaineers Face Tough Final Day at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. (September 21, 2024) – The Mount faced a tough last day at the Bucknell Invitational today as they dropped games to No. 12 Fordham 21-5, Wagner 16-15, and Saddleback 13-12. Late goals and close games defined the day as the Mount drops to 1-4 in conference play. After a tough weekend of MAWP action, the team has a two week break before traveling to California on October 3rd.

Even in the lopsided scoreline against a ranked opponent, both Vasilije Marinkovic and Sherif Hosni made 12 saves in the game, with nine saves and three saves for the pair respectively. In the second game of the day, a late Mount goal was swiftly canceled out with a buzzer beater, guaranteeing a win for the Seahawks. In the third and final game of the day, the Mount was bested by Saddleback in exhibition play as the Mountaineers suffered a weekend sweep.

Along with his 10 goals scored during the weekend, Alexandros Bellesis scored his 160th career goal for the program, overtaking Jason O’Donell’s record of 159 goals set back in 2021. Aaron Tarr scored on three occasions during the weekends play as well as providing a mammoth 13 assists for the team across the games. Tarr also notched four field blocks over this weekend’s games…
