The Arkansas offense could drive a car right now, much less an offensive possession, and apparently, Bobby Petrino thought pulling quarterback Taylen Green for a drive was the remedy.
The first series with Malachai Singleton in the backfield was probably the worst nonturnover drive of the game. Singleton’s first throw of the game was at the feet of Andrew Armstrong. That was followed by two plays for only four yards. After Arkansas’s punt, Auburn followed up with its first touchdown of the day.
Turns out Petrino was right. Arkansas backed itself into a corner, going behind the chains on its own 42-yard line. Then Taylen Green made a play with his legs to escape pressure and hit Isaiah Sategna on a 58-yard touchdown pass. It was just enough to get Green’s mind right. But more importantly, it quieted the people calling for Green to be benched…
