NORMAL, Ill.– The Redbird men’s tennis team racked up a total of eight singles wins and one doubles victory during the final day of the Seventh Annual Redbird Invitational.
In singles play, Tomas Valencia, Caden Scarlett, Jett Leong, Tin Ostro, Adrian Dibildox and Tom Bevan all recorded singles wins. Valencia rallied from a first set loss and outscored EKU’s Contreras 16-10 in the second and third set. Scarlett took set one over EKU’s Kitchin 6-3 before finishing the match in set three by a 10-4 margin. Leong (6-0, 6-0) and Bevan (7-6, 6-3) each won their matches in straight sets against Eastern Illinois. Dibildox (6-2, 6-3) and Ostro (6-4, 6-4) followed up with two more two-set victories against Marquette on the final day of singles competition.
ISU continued its day one momentum in doubles play where the Redbirds received strong performances from the No. 1 pair of Leong/Bevan as they knocked off EIU’s Trocado/White (3-0).
