Day off offered to Oklahoma’s unpaid caregivers

OKLAHOMA CITY — The state’s unpaid caregivers are being offered a day off by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

The department will partner with the Oklahoma Caregiver Coalition to offer a conference on Nov. 7 for caregivers with vouchers available to pay for respite care and transportation to the event.

“Caregivers play an incredible role in our society, ensuring their loved ones have the support and care they need,” Jeromy Buchanan, director of community living, aging and protective services, said in a press release. “From infants, to older adults, to individuals with disabilities, caregivers may serve across the entirety of a person’s lifespan. This work is important and fulfilling, but we know it is also incredibly hard.”…
