Volleyball roundup: Belgrade earns first conference win; Manhattan Christian outlasts Gardiner

Led by a team-high 17 kills from Nora Elliot and 16 kills from Hadley Secora, Belgrade earned its first Eastern AA victory of the season Saturday afternoon in Great Falls.

The Panthers rallied to post a 26-24, 29-30, 14-25, 25-16, 15-9 victory. While volleyball sets are typically decided by a two-point margin, the second set was capped at 30 points by the officiating crew. First-year head coach Hali Ehresmann said she was prepared to protest the outcome had Belgrade lost the match.

“The refs capped it at 30 when the rules state there is no cap in a varsity game and you must win by two,” she said. “It was frustrating but nothing I could do. If we had lost I would have contested it with MHSA (Montana High School Association).”…
