MECHANICSBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) is organizing a series of job fairs aimed at filling a variety of positions at key correctional institutions, SCI Phoenix and SCI Chester. These events reflect a broader strategy to enhance recruitment by making employment opportunities more accessible to a wider pool of candidates.
Commencing on September 24, 2024, the first job fair will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Montgomery County 4-H, located at 1015 Bridge Road, Suite D1, Collegeville, PA 19426. The recruitment drive continues on September 25, 2024, at SCI Phoenix, situated at 1200 Mokychic Road, Collegeville, PA 19426, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. A subsequent event is scheduled for September 26, 2024, at SCI Chester, located at 500 East Fourth Street, Chester, PA 19013, also from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. These fairs target the recruitment of corrections officer trainees, among others, offering potential employees a glimpse into the rewarding careers within the state’s correctional facilities.
A pivotal change this year is the reduction in the minimum age requirement for corrections officer trainees from 21 to 18 years. This adjustment opens up career paths for younger individuals, broadening the DOC’s recruitment base.
