Lawmakers await Justice agenda for Sept. 30 special session

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Jim Justice will call lawmakers into special session a week from Monday. The governor’s agenda, his official call, has yet to be finalized.

Justice has hinted more than once at a few items including some comments he made in a Sept. 9 video.

“I promised you that I would stand up and fight like crazy for you in trying to get another 5% tax cut for you,” Justice said. “I promised you that I would try to help out with childcare and absolutely try to get our tax break across the finish line with childcare. There’s absolutely supplemental appropriations that need to be done, and we need to get the money out the door and get these projects moving.”

Justice repeated some of those same themes in last week’s media briefing.

Lawmakers hope to see the agenda at least a few days before Sept. 30 special session begins…
