Library plans music, gaming and sewing programs
CANAL FULTON – The Canal Fulton Public Library, 154 E. Market St., has scheduled the following events:
- The Victor Samalot Duo will present “Que Bueno,” a one-hour musical performance through the diversity of Latin music, at 6 p.m. Monday. The duo will perform selections from artists such as Santana, Santo and Johnny, Ritchie Valens, Antonio Carlos Jobin. Registration is requested.
- Teen Game Time: Jackbox Gaming will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for teens in grades 6-12. A personal device is required to participate. Snacks will be provided. Registration is requested.
- Sewing a Zigzag Basket will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 30. Learn how to sew on a sewing machine with this project for beginners. All materials will be supplied. Register for one half-hour time slot only.
Canton Mural Fest is Saturday
CANTON – Mural Fest will take place in downtown Canton’s Warehouse District from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. Mural Fest is a celebration of art, culture and community in downtown Canton as participants transform blank walls into works of art.
YMCA of Central Stark County gets grant to adapt fitness equipment
CANTON – The YMCA of Central Stark County has been awarded $5,152 through the 2024 Direct Effect 1st Cycle Quality of Life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. This grant will support the YMCA’s Community Fitness Accessibility Project, aimed at enhancing the lives of people living with paralysis and their families.
The grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living.
The YMCA will purchase adaptive accessories at the Paul & Carol David branch to make some current equipment more accessible to people living with paralysis and disability. Certified training staff will be trained to use the equipment.
