Tragic Mid-Air Collision in Lancaster

On Sunday, a deadly mid-air collision between two planes occurred in Lancaster, north of Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene at 1:20 p.m.

One pilot was pronounced dead on arrival, while the other survived with no reported injuries.

One of the planes involved was a Cessna aircraft, while the other has been identified as a Nanchang CJ-6 by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The aircraft crashed in separate locations, with one landing near Avenue G and 60th Street East and the other near Avenue F and 46th Street East.

The California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and fire department are investigating the incident. The identity of the deceased pilot has not yet been released.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will also investigate the collision, which involved two vintage military training planes.
