MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A chase on Interstate 10 resulted in a vehicle overturning and backed-up traffic just before the Wallace Tunnel Monday afternoon.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said one of its special operations deputies witnessed the vehicle driving recklessly on I-10 around 4:44 p.m. and attempted to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop. The Mobile Police Department also participated in the pursuit.
According to Mobile police, the vehicle was going 100 mph when it passed an MPD officer using the outside emergency lane. Within a very short distance, the vehicle was seen passing other motorists in the outside emergency lane again at the Virginia Street exit when the driver lost control, slid across three travel lanes and hit the center retaining wall, where it overturned, MPD said…
