Central Florida Rallies to Distribute Sandbags in Anticipation of Approaching Tropical Storm

With a tropical storm on the horizon, Central Florida residents scramble to prepare, and local governments are stepping in to help. Sandbag distribution has started across multiple counties, enabling citizens to protect their properties from the potential deluge. WESH reports that locations, including Apopka and Orlando, have begun offering sandbags this week, with several sites open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. until September 25.

Volusia County has offered up to 10 pre-filled sandbags per vehicle. Upon arrival at the distribution site located at the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach, residents must present proof of residency.

According to WFTV, the City of Daytona Beach is also helping residents fortify their homes by providing materials at Bethune Point Park. Locals can fill their bags from afternoon until evening and early morning the following day.
