CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Tropical Storm Helene developed Tuesday morning and is expected to become a hurricane that could bring heavy rain and wind to the Carolinas later this week.
As of 11 a.m., the storm’s winds had increased to 45 miles per hour with pressure falling. It’s currently on track to become a hurricane on Wednesday before making landfall as a major hurricane on Thursday.

Today will bring lots of clouds and muggy conditions with afternoon readings rebounding to the low to mid-80s. Scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours could be heavy in some neighborhoods, leading to localized flooding.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy and mild with a lingering thunderstorm chance. Lows will only fall back to the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.
