Can Nick Saban be the guest picker on ESPN ‘College GameDay’ for Alabama-Georgia?

Legendary Alabama football coach Nick Saban has achieved celebrity status.

Apart from winning half a dozen national championships with the Crimson Tide, he’s arguably the most recognizable figure in college sports. He’s starred in some outstanding TV commercials, and even tried his hand at movies with a cameo role in The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock. All that would make him a fine choice to be the guest picker on ESPN’s “College GameDay” this weekend, which will air from Tuscaloosa ahead of Alabama’s crucial home game against Georgia on Saturday (6:30 p.m. CT, ABC).

One problem: Saban accepted a job as a regular panelist with the GameDay crew shortly after he retired from coaching in January. He’s been impressive in the role since the show’s 2024 run began airing in Dublin, Ireland, where it debuted ahead of the Week Zero game between Georgia Tech and Florida State…
