ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – Tropical Storm Helene is on track to rapidly become a major Category 3 hurricane on Thursday. Projected landfall is early Thursday evening along the NE Gulf coast then into SGA throughout the evening into early Friday with potentially extensive impacts.
There’s a Hurricane Watch, a Tropical Storm Watch and Flood Watch covering threats of damaging winds, flash flooding and tornadoes.
Helene’s outer bands will begin pushing into SGA Wednesday night ahead of Thursday evening’s projected landfall. Expect bands of heavy rain Thursday as conditions deteriorate through the evening as Helene tracks north across SGA.
