Headland senior wins overall title at Bassmaster High School Combine

DECATUR, Ala. (WTVY) – 97 of the best high school anglers from across the nation gathered on Wheeler Lake in Decatur, Alabama, and when all was said and done it was a Wiregrass native that showed out to take home the top prize at the 2024 Skeeter Bassmaster High School Combine.

Barrett Choquette, a senior and member of the Headland High School Bass Team, racked up 370 total points across three events to take home the Overall Skill Challenge title at the fourth annual combine, edging out Brock Lovering of Lakeland, Florida for the top prize.

“My brother really got me into tournament bass fishing and encouraged me to enter into the Combine this year,” said Choquette, whose brother Hudson was part of the first High School Combine in 2021 and currently fishes for the University of Montevallo. “I knew for sure as soon as he participated in the first Combine I wanted to be a part of this event.”…
