NY weather update: Rip current statement issued for part of New York until Wednesday evening

On Tuesday at 5:02 p.m. an updated rip current statement was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until Wednesday at 6 p.m. for Brooklyn and Queens as well as Suffolk County.

The weather service comments, “If you enter the surf zone, always have a flotation device with you and swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float, and do not swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and yell or wave for help.”
