In response to baseless allegations that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio are capturing and eating pet dogs and cats, the following statement was issued Friday by Andrew Peng, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander spokesperson for the Harris-Walz campaign:

“Asian American families know all too well the dangers of anti-immigrant rhetoric, and the choice in this election could not be clearer.

“While Donald Trump spouts conspiracy theories, threatens to deploy the military to round up and separate millions of families, and resorts to the cruel playbook of vilifying and dehumanizing immigrant communities, Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz are fighting to build a fair and just immigration system that keeps our families safe.
