Mobile City Council discusses increasing traffic fines

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — Mobile city leaders are trying to figure out ways to stop dangerous drivers who run red lights and street race. On Tuesday, they discussed what more they could do to curb bad behavior behind the wheel.

“I think we should look at the fines, raising the fines,” said Councilman Joel Daves.

Council members said they’d research how much other cities are fining people for comparison and revisit the topic. Adding red light cameras was also discussed but city leaders said they don’t have the needed support in the legislature to seriously entertain that as an option…
