HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – Ashley Burdine, a math teacher and cheer coach for Oak Grove High School, had no idea what was behind the school’s library doors Tuesday morning.
When she walked in, she was met by her team, colleagues, and family yelling, ‘Surprise!’ And a banner that read ‘Ashley Burdine MHSAA 23-24 MS Spirit Coach of the Year.’
“I had no idea,” said Burdine. “Coach McCardle (Athletic Director) called me down to talk to him and you never know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. So, I definitely was not expecting this.”…
