New Orleans Police Launch Manhunt for Juvenile Escape and Carjacking Suspect

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) has issued an urgent call for help from the public in locating a juvenile escapee, identified as 17-year-old Carlos Taylor, who is also a suspect in a recent carjacking incident. According to New Orleans Police Department , Taylor, whose date of birth is listed as September 17, 2007, made his escape from the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center (JJIC) on September 23.

A “Be On The Look Out” alert was dispatched to all New Orleans Police Department districts following a notification to the department that came in at 2:14 p.m., barely minutes after an unarmed carjacking was reported at approximately 2:12 p.m. in the 1100 block of Florida Avenue. Through the subsequent investigation, the New Orleans Police Department identified Taylor as the alleged perpetrator of the carjacking.

Prior to these incidents, Taylor had been arrested on September 20, on multiple charges including aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, illegal use of a weapon and, aggravated criminal damage to property. Further charges are now pending in light of these recent events. Law enforcement considers finding Taylor a high priority and seeks any information that may lead to his apprehension…
