Augusta, Aiken area schools and universities announce closures ahead of Hurricane Helene

Public and private Augusta area schools have announced closures and cancellations in anticipation of Hurricane Helene arrival in the area late Thursday.

Current forecasts show the Category 3 hurricane, projected to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall and flooding to south central Georgia, will make landfall along Florida’s Gulf Coast on Thursday.

Richmond County school closures, activity cancellations
