Irmo Okra Strut to celebrate “50 Years of Struttin” on Sept. 27-28

The Irmo Okra Strut will celebrate its golden anniversary when it returns later this week to Moore Park, located at 7473 Church St. in Irmo, on Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28.

Dating back to 1973 when the Lake Murray-Irmo Woman’s Club held a small arts and crafts fair they called ‘The Okra Strut’ to raise funds to build a library for Irmo, the festival which is presented by Lexington Medical Center now averages around 25,000 attendees annually.

Featuring live bands on both Friday and Saturday evening, the fun begins this year around 7:30 p.m. on Friday with performances by Simply Shania, a Shania Twain tribute band, followed by Cowboy Mouth on the Prisma Health Amphitheater main stage…
