Former Marion District Court clerk pleads guilty on forgery, theft charges

MARION, Ark. – A former Marion District Court clerk will spend four months in jail and pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines after an investigation into stolen court fines by Arkansas State Police.

ASP officials said the investigation of the Marion District Court started in July 2023 and led to the arrest of 33-year-old Megan Goudy of West Memphis later that month after it was revealed she stole more than $300,00 in court fines between 2019 and 2022.

Goudy pleaded guilty on Monday to felony theft of property and eight counts of forgery.

Court records show Goudy was sentenced to 20 years of probation, $384,000 in restitution to the city of Marion and 120 days in the Crittenden County Detention Center, where she is currently held.
