Very limited Wichita green spaces will be used in K-96 improvements project

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) – Tuesday, Wichita’s City Council decided to delay action on the K-96 improvements project, opting to hear more from the Kansas Department of Transportation about what the land looks like that’ll be impacted by this expansion.

“Every effort has been made to do a great job to not adversely impact the intended use of these parks,” said Gary Janzen, director of Public Works in Wichita during that meeting.

The Kansas Department of Transportation’s K-96 improvements project includes expanding the freeway from four lanes to six, replacing pavement and reconfiguring interchanges by adding braided ramps and diverging diamond interchanges…
