Byron fire and police departments will continue to respond to critical emergencies during Hurricane Helene

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)– In light of Hurricane Helene and the potential for severe weather, Mayor Michael Chidester has announced critical updates regarding emergency services in Byron. The Georgia EMS and EMA have recommended that Peach County EMS refrain from responding to life-threatening emergencies once sustained winds reach 50 mph or greater.

Mayor Michael Chidester said in a Facebook post, that for residents within the City of Byron, the local fire and police departments will continue to respond to calls for life-threatening emergencies if Peach County EMS becomes unavailable. He added that if urgent medical care cannot be provided on-site, residents will be taken to the hospital as needed…
