Sylvia Patricia Briggs

Sylvia Patricia Briggs, age 83, passed away on September 23, 2024. Pat was a beacon of love and kindness, embodying a spirit of service and compassion that touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She was born on July 31, 1941, in Decherd, Tennessee to the late Webb Tate and Mary Lou Starnes Swann. She is proceeded in death by her parents Webb Tate and Mary Lou Starnes Swann; sisters Emma Jean Stewart and Bonnie Sue Hughes; brother, Frank Tate Swann. Pat is survived by her son, Aaron (Sandra) Briggs of Nashville; daughter, Sheralee (Andy) Riddle of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Jesse Briggs, Alison Briggs, KelliAnn Riddle, Peyton Riddle.

Pat followed in the footsteps of her two older sisters teaching elementary school for nearly forty years. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her dedication, patience, and love for her students. She was often known for walking the playground during recess. This love of walking continued into her final days.

A devoted member of Murfreesboro First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Pat served as an elder, sang in the choir, and would often help teach the children’s sermon on Sunday mornings. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her in her service to others and creating a network of love and support within her church and community…
