ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Hurricane Helene is a very powerful category 4 storm. While we will not get the brunt of the rain and winds (up to 130 at press time) that will batter the Big Bend area of the Florida coast, there are bands of Helene’s rains that will block our sunshine on Saturday.
We didn’t have much of a window of opportunity to bring in some sun between systems in the first place. And now that window of opportunity seems to be closing as the storm get closer to making landfall.
It is not a complete washout on Saturday, The day could see a spotty shower or two before our peeks of sun reappear with a dry but cloudy Sunday forming.
We are watching a fetch of cooler air make its way to the Tiers by Tuesday evening and that cold front will shave about 11 degrees off of the thermometer from Monday’s forecasted 75° and add rain…
