Batesville family again stranded by storm flooding

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) – As people in Albemarle County gear up for Hurricane Helene, they are also still recovering from Wednesday night’s storms.

Heavy winds and rains knocked out power lines, flooded roads, and has even left one Albemarle County family physically trapped in their home. It’s the second time in just about a month severe weather has washed away the bridge connecting the Clements’ house to the road.

“You can see that the bridge that they had put in a couple weeks ago has gone out over last night,” said Peggy Shaker, the Clements’ neighbor. “The mom is not in great health. So, that’s one of the reasons we want to be sure that people understand the need to be able to get her out because she needs medical care.”…
