President Biden declared a federal emergency for the state of Georgia ahead of Hurricane Helene impact on Thursday, Sept. 26. The hurricane reached Category 2 status prior to landfall on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Georgia Power had already reported outages in Newnan as of 1 p.m. on Thursday.
